A trip to the ER, two years later

Apparently we really can't make it more than 2 years without a visit to the E.R.  I wrote a post almost 2 years ago about a visit we made, and mentioned that we had been 2 years before that.  You can read about it here.

I was getting ready to make dinner, and Ellie was spinning in the living room.  I looked up at her, and I had a thought like this is not going to end well, when she lost her balance and slammed her head into the corner of the wall.  She got up and started crying and ran to me, and when she took her hand away there was blood on her hand, and I could see it soaking her area in the area and starting to run down her neck.  I parted her hair and found the cut, which weirdly Ellie had already stopped crying and wanted down to play, and it looked pretty deep and was bleeding heavily.  Unfortunately during all this Andy was at work, and so off to ER we went.

Its less than a 10 minute drive but when we got there, I realized I forgot the insurance card, so we had to turn around.  Thankfully it was a slow night and they were able to get us in right away.  Strangely Ellie was so good for getting 2 staples in her head, but screamed like a banshee when they wanted to weigh her.  Whats with that?

She was so good that she got to come home and have a Popsicle and watch Frozen before bed.  I think she was so good, because our nurse looked exactly like Kristoff from Frozen.  I mean it was uncanny.

Alta View Hospital is not an easy place for me to be.  That is where we had Thomas, and I had vowed that I would never return to that place.  Not that the hospital has anything to do with loosing Thomas, and in fact have an excellent staff, I just never wanted to go back there.  It was therapeutic for me to have to go there. Again, we had excellent nurses and doctors, and it helped to show me that the hospital isn't a bad place, just because something bad happened to me there.

  1. Oh no poor Ellie :( Haha that's hilarious about the Kristoff nurse :) And I'm glad you were able to go back to Alta hospital and have that be therapeutic :) You're very strong Tami
