Mommy's little helper

Ellie loves to "help".  Sometimes it is really frustrating because I just want to do it myself to get it done quickly.  I was talking to my mom on the phone while I was cleaning crayon off the wall (another fun aspect of having a two year old) and I was telling my mom that Ellie was standing next to me rubbing the wall with toilet paper trying to help.  I told her it was frustrating how she was always trying to help now, and my mom said something great to me, "Let her".

She told me this is time I won't have with Ellie again, and the scheme of things is it more important to get the dishes, laundry, dinner, etc a few minutes faster or to have this time with my daughter.

I took her advice to heart and yesterday Ellie and I made a cake to celebrate her finally going poop on the toilet again.  She loved helping, and I love spending that time with her.
She loved stirring the batter

fun with food coloring
Happy Halloween!

p.s. the cake turned out great.  Added bonus it was something I saw on pintrest that actually worked out for me!

  1. Thanks for the reminder to let her help. Our little Ellie loves to help, too, and it can be frustrating, because - like you said - I just want to get it done faster! Maybe Ellie and I will make a cake and I will let her do all the helping she wants.... Good idea. :)

  2. That is a really good reminder. I try to hide from the kids while I'm being productive :)
