Driving Day 1, Ellie's Birthday

We started our drive to Florida today.  We left from Seattle this morning and made it to Draper Utah.   We drove through Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Utah.
It was about a 12 hour drive and normally that would be hell with Ellie in the backs seat, but she got a DVD player for the car for her birthday from my mom’s best friend Tami (whom I am named after).  It has literally saved our sanity.  She has happily watched Curious George, and in between played with her toys and napped.  It has filled in all the time that she would normally be throwing a fit.  I cannot stress how much better this drive is because of it.
so content
While we were in Washington we had a birthday party for Ellie since it is at the end of the month.  It was Curious George theme since that is her all time favorite thing in the world.  She had a great time.  We had dinner, cake presents, and a piñata.  The kids loved breaking open the piñata (specifically my nephew Max who broke it open).  She was a given a lot of Curious George stuff, a doll, blanket, both movies, season 6 of the series, and a poster.  It was a great time and I’m glad we could celebrate with my family.

The rest is just some pictures of the different things we saw and did on our drive today.
we all took a turn being King of the car, no surprise Ellie ended up being the overall King

She wanted to move the balls at Target so bad!

  2. Dvd players on long trips are the best! We just went on a long trip and even rented some red box movies along the way so they'd have some new movies to watch. That is the cutest curious george party! Noah used to LOVE curious george, too.
